“Eagle Eyes” was my nickname growing up. My grandfather gave it to me because I was always pointing out the tiny bugs in the grass or spotting things no one else in my family seemed to notice. That curiosity stuck and eventually turned into a real interest in the natural world.

After graduating from Cal Poly, I worked as a field biologist and spent much of my time outdoors on project sites. One of my favorite parts of the job was sharing what I was seeing with the people I met in the field and teaching them a little about the habitats and wildlife around us.

Although my career has since moved out of the field, I still love spending time outside, and photography has become another way for me to stay connected to that interest. I’m still very much an amateur, and I like that there’s room to experiment without taking it too seriously. It’s a hobby I hope to keep improving at over time.

Maybe someday I’ll have nicer equipment and more time to devote to it. For now, I’m happy to keep learning as I go and to come home with a few photos that remind me where I’ve been. This online portfolio was created to share those photos with family, friends, coworkers and anyone interested. Enjoy!
